The hacienda
One of the region’s major agricultural estates
Hacienda de Don Diego lived from what it produced: crops, livestock, and the daily work of an estate of its time. Its main buildings stood on the lower part of the land, close to the water.
Our history
Don Diego is organized around land, water, and community because that is how this place was organized long before the project began. Understanding its origins explains why the club, the farm, and the reservoir naturally complement one another.

What shapes this story
Four elements that were already here and continue to shape the project today.
The hacienda
Hacienda de Don Diego lived from what it produced: crops, livestock, and the daily work of an estate of its time. Its main buildings stood on the lower part of the land, close to the water.
Presa de la Cantera
To irrigate its fields and provide water for its animals, the hacienda built its own reservoir. The dam wall was built with locally quarried stone, giving Presa de la Cantera the name it still carries today. The reservoir belongs to the development and defines its natural identity.
Water and roads
Over time, the construction of Presa Allende to irrigate the lands of the Bajío submerged the hacienda’s main buildings. Later, the railway and the San Miguel–Celaya road crossed the land, dividing it into separate parts. Twenty-five years ago, those parts were brought together again under shared care: a drinking-water well was drilled and Presa de la Cantera was preserved.
The community
The community of Don Diego lives beside this land and has been here since long before the project. Presa de la Cantera is envisioned as a public-private space, with a community center and free activities for children and adults, so that this relationship remains part of daily life here.
Today
It is the reason Organic Farm & Flowers exists, why water connects the project, and why its name carries that of the hacienda that came before it. We honor our roots, celebrate our community, and cultivate a life with purpose.
